About Us

Welcome to Myrtle Grove Christian School!

As you may know, the state motto of North Carolina is “Esse Quam Videri,” meaning “to be rather than to seem.” These words hold significance for everyone, but they carry even greater weight for schools and in our Christian walk. They remind us to live authentically and purposefully, embodying our values rather than merely appearing to do so.

Parents seek a school that stands by its word—a school that is sincere in its mission, goals, and programs. Since our founding in 1982, Myrtle Grove Christian School has served students from preschool through 8th grade, providing a Christ-centered education that is both rigorous and nurturing. Although we are affiliated with Myrtle Grove Evangelical Presbyterian Church, our students and faculty represent over 50 churches in the Wilmington area. Together as believers, we are striving to be more Christ-like each day, pointing others back to Him as we rely on the Lord for all that we have and can accomplish together.

Here at MGCS, our goal is to shape the hearts and minds of our students in a Christ-centered environment that challenges them academically while providing opportunities to grow in their faith, gifts, and talents. We want our students to love learning and love the Lord. Achieving both with fidelity is an ambitious goal, but that is our commitment to our families. While we may not be perfect, we pledge every day to partner with each family in equipping our students to be well-rooted in faith and learning, growing into the young men and women the Lord has created them to be.

These formative, foundational years offer an incredible opportunity to foster that growth through critical thinking, creativity, hands-on learning, outdoor experiences, peer connections, and more—all within the framework of a Biblical worldview. We are deeply grateful for this opportunity and take it as an immense responsibility, both to our families and to the Lord.

As you consider whether Myrtle Grove Christian School is the right fit for your family, we hope you’ll see our sincere effort to live out the principle of “to be rather than to seem.” We would be honored to partner with you in nurturing your child’s educational and spiritual growth.
