Middle East

For the last few years, Myrtle Grove Christian School has joyfully welcomed Alia, Makayla and Natalie into our school community whenever their family is on furlough from their outreach mission in the Middle East. Their parents, Lance and Lisa, primarily work in the Muslim community spreading the Gospel of Jesus.  In January 2015, they will be returning to the US for a six-month furlough.

This family has graciously offered to return our hospitality by hosting two of our teachers in their home overseas this fall.  This visit will help broaden the teachers’ view – and by extension, Myrtle Grove Christian School’s view – of God’s work among unreached people groups.  In October, Ashley Raye (3rd grade teacher) and Jennifer Reese (5th grade teacher) will travel to the Middle East for approximately two weeks. While there, they’ll get a taste of missionary life in a different country and work with underprivileged youth. While visiting this region rich with Biblical history, they’ll share their experiences with MGCS virtually through Skype and daily journal updates.  Back in Wilmington, we will keep track of their journey through announcements and mapping activities. Upon their return, Mrs. Raye and Ms. Reese will host a chapel to share their experience. This will be a wonderful opportunity to enrich our teacher’s and student’s lives!

To make this all possible, we are asking for your support in the following ways:

1.    Pray for the entire trip, especially the teachers and family involved.

2.    Pray for the three girls as they return to the US in January 2015.

3.    Pray for this family’s efforts in the Muslim community.

4.    Prayerfully consider supporting this trip financially by July 1.  The need is $5,000.

While this is our first experience sending teachers on a mission trip, we hope to make this an MGCS tradition as we seek to fulfill our role in the Great Commission while we continue to root students in faith and learning.  Any financial support is tax deductible; checks may be sent to MGCS at 806 Piner Road, Wilmington, NC 28409.  Please indicate “Raye/Reese Trip” in the memo line.
