Back in August, we announced our 2013-14 Annual Fund goal: $100,000 to be used for Tuition Assistance and Student Support Programs.  The Bible assures us in Proverbs 16:9 that although we make many plans, the Lord determines our steps.  Only eight months into our campaign – after a very successful SPRING FLING & FUNd RUN – we discovered that although we asked, hoped, and planned for $100,000, the Lord used over 500 donors to bring our total to just over $111,000.

It is easy for me to focus on goals, amounts, and program details but these are only a means to an end.  The Annual Fund matters because these financial resources sustain our legacy of providing Christ-centered education and passing on the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD to the next generation (Psalm 78:4). Tuition Assistance and Student Support programs allow students with academic challenges and families with financial difficulties to join, or remain a part of, the MGCS community.  Here are some stories from a few of the over 60 families and students helped by these critical programs.

“We have been a part of the MGCS family since our daughter was in preschool. She has always had support and care, but until recently, I never knew how far the staff would go for her. She was diagnosed with Dyslexia at the end of second grade, and before I even had time to process our next step, the administration gave us wonderful options right on campus. Now, because of my daughter’s teachers, school administrators, and Student Support programs, she has not only improved her grades to A/B honor roll but her self-confidence is better than we have ever seen. I can’t express enough gratitude for the love and support Myrtle Grove Christian School has offered our family.”

“Had we not received scholarship assistance the first year our daughter was at Myrtle Grove, we never could have attended MGCS.  A Christ –centered, high quality education was made available to us through Tuition Assistance; now we are able to give back to the Annual Fund and enjoy seeing other families blessed as we were.”
