Heather Crandell

Heather has been working with young children since she was a child herself, working in her church nursery and starting her own Baby-Sitter’s Club. She graduated from UNCW with a B.A. in Communication Studies. After graduating, she spent five years traveling the world. Of all the places she’s visited and lived, Wilmington is where Heather and her husband, Chad, decided to establish roots.

She went back to school at CFCC for Early Childhood Education, where she spent a lot of time in the lab school, The Child Development Center. She enjoyed her time there as a student and was hired as a Lead Teacher in the PreK classroom. While there, she won the Smart Start “Play Outside All Day” contest as part of the Week of the Young Child in 2011. She received the Early Childhood Educator of the Year Award from Cape Fear Association of the Education of Young Children in 2012.

After five years, she took a year off to spend time raising her two girls. She returned to the classroom and worked in a church preschool from 2015-2020. This is her first year at Myrtle Grove and she’s excited for all of the opportunities that the school has for children and for her to grow in her practice. Heather loves surfing with her family, traveling and spending time outdoors.
