PTF President Reflects on Another Successful Year
This was my first year as PTF President and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Myrtle Grove Christian School is a blessing to me and my family and it is my pleasure to serve alongside such wonderful parent-volunteers.
The MGCS Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) exists to support and appreciate our teachers and staff. Toward that end, we host a number of annual events including the Newcomers Picnic, Boo-Hoo Breakfast for preschool parents, and a number of teacher/staff luncheons. We also plan a teacher/student basketball game, a talent show, and an essay contest for students. One of our signature programs is Teacher Appreciation Week, a week-long celebration to honor and thank the teachers and staff. Each August, PTF provides teachers with gift cards to help purchase supplies as they set up their classrooms.
We raise funds to finance these activities and limit our efforts to fundraising programs that produce the most revenue without driving our parents crazy. This year, due to high student participation (especially with this year’s middle school students), we doubled our Charleston Wrap revenues. The Attraction Coupon books continued to be successful. Our Holiday Market and Moe’s nights were well attended and a lot fun. In addition to funding our PTF events, these fundraisers have allowed us to make annual gifts to the school for projects like the electronic door lock system and to purchase Bibles for students that accept Christ during the school year.
Thank you to our generous and faithful PTF leadership: Kathryn Nixon, Teresa Harris, Jennifer Bunch, Christi Branco, Robin Ange, Cindy Harrison, Martha Walsh, Jennifer Kievit, Denise Blanchard, Carrie Lewis, and Amanda Lisk. Thank you also to the many parents who supported our fundraising efforts and served at the lunches and other events.
Please make plans to join us next year. We meet the first Friday of every month right after the morning bell rings and all are welcome. This year, we welcomed our first grandparent member!
