Why We Chose MGCS

When my husband and I began to research schools, we were not just making a decision on academics.  We were also concerned with the influences during the course of a day. Was it safe? What would the day look like? What type of environment was best for our children? Would they be cared for? It was important that the school exceed our educational expectations, but we also wanted a safe, caring environment with an emphasis on moral responsibility, respect, and character development. These factors were critical to us and could not be compromised.

CHALLENGING ACADEMICS

Our daughter, Avery, began attending MGCS in preschool.  Throughout the year, we were able to evaluate the academic and social environment and to observe the genuine love the staff had for Avery.  Each day, we were comforted to know we were dropping her off with a group of professionals who cared about her academic and spiritual development as much as we did.  Throughout that year, we felt that the quality of education and smaller classroom setting gave students the opportunity to maximize their academic potential.

The MGCS staff and faculty are fully invested in our children and care about them as individuals.  Avery loves to read, and in second grade she decided to exceed her reading goals by doubling the requirement. It got to the point where the library was running out of books that interested her in the second grade section!  Mrs. Poteat, the school librarian, spent time helping Avery select books that were outside of the second grade section but still appropriate in terms of content and reading level. We were so pleased that Avery was not limited or boxed in by predetermined reading materials set for her grade but was given the tools she needed to meet her goal.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT

MGCS provides a safe, child-friendly atmosphere for learning to take place. Discipline serves as a learning opportunity and not a walk of shame. We love that students of all ages interact and are genuinely kind to one another.  When our son Lawson started preschool, it was our intention for him to go 3 days a week and spend the other 2 days at home.  Two months into the year, Lawson demanded that he get to go to school every day, just like his big sister.  We were a little sad to lose those days at home, but my husband and I didn’t feel we could deny a child that was excited to go to school.

This year, Avery is in third grade and Lawson is in kindergarten.  They both love going to school!  We are grateful to have the opportunity to send them to a school that reflects the same moral compass as we do. MGCS is exactly what we were looking for.
